“I’m kind of done with you telling me what I can’t do.” – Captain Marvel
Last winter my husband and I decided to watch all the Marvel movies in chronological sequence. I will confess that up until that point, the only Marvel movies I had seen were the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Black Panther, and Infinity War. While I thought I had successfully avoided the whole superhero craze, I do suffer from occasional FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) so I dashed to the theater to catch these flicks due to their popularity. (Watching Infinity War when you have no context for what is happening is not advised! So confusing.) While this may seem like the beginning of selling you on this very successful film franchise, I promise there is a point to my meanderings.
As we plowed through the series of films, we finalized our journey with Avengers: Endgame. Near the end of this EPIC movie, the female superheroes unite and rage into battle. When I watched this scene unfold, I sat up straight in my seat and nearly fell into the floor. I was so inspired and thrilled by this female power that I have watched the clip over and over. Below is a screen grab from the movie for reference.
This is the image I look at every time I open and turn on my laptop. This is the image I have in my head when I need to conjure an illustration of what I want to do with my business. I picture myself and my clients gathering our weapons for battle. Our weapons are empowerment, support, finding and using our voices, and demanding equality and inclusion. We take our places on the battle lines and KICK GLASS!!!
There will be challenges and we will face enemies. But we rage together, with unity and sisterhood. Below are some quotes from various Marvel movies by some badass female characters! Use them as you need them!
“Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, 'No, *you* move'." — Sharon Carter, Captain America: Civil War
"We never lose our demons, Mordo. We only learn to live above them." — The Ancient One, Doctor Strange
“I’m kind of done with you telling me what I can’t do.” – Captain Marvel
“Whatever nightmares the future holds, are dreams compared with what’s behind me.” Gamora
